CAT011: "blender collection" eloquent vulgar

For me the divine is the real.

Clarice Lispector

blender collection is a meditation on time, process, the poem, and chance. Lyrically comprised of a poem by the same name, blender collection explores the complimentary through symbol. Disjointed images layer to form a palimpsest of an inner-world, a private glimpse into the sacred space between movement and stillness. Recycling the poem through a process of rolling dice to determine syllable and line choice amplifies the absurdity inherent in self-imposed restriction. Its pleasure and discomfort. Being in awe when words collide and create sense. Lines between lines. Unseen options.

The instrumental music is a tangled set of coded messages masquerading as something much more superficial. The material is derived from the melody line of a piece by Duke Ellington. It is not important what piece. The procedures used to develop the material are even less important. It is a physical connection to the past. A hand stretched open across the keyboard in a similar configuration as someone 10, 20, 50, 100 years ago: a seance performed with 2 hands and ten fingers.
